Stokke Tripp Trapp Highchair

by Beth
(Columbia, MO)

We received our Stokke Tripp Trapp chair as a gift when our first son was born. As soon as our son was able to adequately support himself in a sitting position, we had him sitting in it at the table with us while we ate our meals.

We loved how he could be right up at the table with us, not pushed back from the table like in so many other highchairs with big, bulky trays. This also meant that, when not in use, the highchair could simply be pushed up to the table like any other chair, and not take up lots of floor space.

We also liked how the design of the chair allowed it to blend in with our decor much better than other highchair styles. When he started eating solids, we learned to appreciate the chair even more. Again, he was able to be right up at the table with us and the simple, wooden design of the chair made for easy clean-up of the inevitable spills - no nooks and crannies for food to get stuck in and no tray to have to clean up.

Now that he is 3, our son is still using his Tripp Trapp. You can't say that about many other kinds of highchair! The almost infinite adjustability of the chair means that we can adjust the chair as he grows so he can always be at the perfect height for the table, and he can easily climb into and out of the chair himself. The chair is so sturdy and adjustable that even an adult can use it quite comfortably - and we have had adults use it when we have had company over for dinner.

While the cost of a new Tripp Trapp (usually around $250 US) may deter many people from giving this highchair a try, the fact that the chair can be used for many, many years, makes the initial investment well worth it. We love our Tripp Trapp so much that we are planning on buying a second one for our new baby who's due any day now!
