Kane Leland Is Growing So FastBy Salina
Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada ![]()
Kane has been exclusively breastfed since leaving the NICU. We started Kane on "solids" on September 22 (5 months 22 days) with some oatmeal cereal for 2 days and we promptly switched to sweet potatoes because of the gassiness/fussiness. Sweet Potatoes were a sure winner for Kane... although he was not very fond of the texture of the homemade stuff, we just had to water it down and strain it a bit. It's all about the texture. A few rough days of refusing to eat and sometimes also refusing to nurse made me nervous... but we pulled through... Now Kane eats 3 times a day and nurses like a champ again... Kane has had: Sweet potato, banana, avocado, pear, peach, apple, green beans, pumpkin, butternut squash, carrots, zucchini, rice, oatmeal, barley, cheerios, rice cake, egg yolk and yogurt. Next we will have peas, corn and other types of squash, dates and prunes. I make all of Kane's food at home and freeze it. I decided to do this after reading some of the labels on baby food packaging... Im sure most of the ingrdients that are not in homemade stuff are not harmful to baby, but I want my baby to be exposed to as little "foreign" ingredients as possible.
Thanks to this website... I feel like what I am doing is right for my baby!!!
