Baby Of The Month - Previous Winners

September 2008

At Homemade Baby Food Recipes, we enjoy hearing about how your babies are getting on with solid foods - and we love to receive photographs of them, too!

In our Baby of the Month Competition, we invite you to send in a special photograph of your little one - and we publish our favourites on the site!

The current winners - and the entry form for sending in YOUR baby's photographs - are on our Baby of the Month page - and below you can see the winners from September's competition!

Meet September's brand new "Baby Of The Month"!
This is Mazy , 8 months, from Huntington Beach, California.
Just look at those gorgeous dimples!

Mazy Mazy's Mum, Tai, told us...

She loves EVERYTHING, and I have had so much fun making food for her!

Mixing and matching fruits and then freezing them together like apples and pears....sweet potatoes and carrots ...and the difference in the color between homemade baby food and packaged! She especially loves peas! I think it is the green color...that is her favorite to play with too!

I pretend to eat spoonfuls of her food, in between her bites and she CRACKS UP!

I can't tell you the incredible feeling to feed her something that I know where it came from, that the veggies and fruits are organic, and that I made them!

Tai, thank you for sharing this photograph - it's wonderful to hear just how much you are enjoying making your own baby food... and how much Mazy is appreciating it!

And thank you, too, to everyone else who entered last month!

Here are some more of our favourite pictures sent in during August, along with a few words from Mum...

Mahika, 6 1/2 months - from India

Mahika
We introduced solids to Mahika when she was 6 months and a week old. This was done in traditional North Indian way, wherein the eldest family member offers the child a sweet dish called Kheer (Rice cooked in Milk). For Mahika this was done by her grandmother followed by parents. She enjoyed it, however was initially surprised to see the food offered on a spoon!

Now we are giving her food pulp once a day and lentil puree. She likes to taste new things and tries to have food on her own by snatching it from our hands!

She is a hyperactive kid and mango is her favourite food!

Alana Rose, 10 months - from Michigan, US

Alanarose
Alana began eating solid foods once a day at four months - cereal mixed with expressed milk. She's never looked back!

At ten months, she eats just about everything we put in front of her. Lamb, yogurt, hummus, any kind of cheese, green beas, blueberries, and peas are among her favorites!

We refuse to have a child who only eats chicken strips and french fries when she gets older, so we purposely feed her a large variety of food!

So far, the only thing she has refused to eat was sauteed beet greens and I don't blame her one bit! YUCK!

Anahita

Anahita, 6 months - from India

I started with rice cerelac when she was 4 and a half months old.

She loves carrot soup with a little black pepper and cumin powder and just relishes mashed banana!

She takes keen interest in what we eat. She is a very active baby and cannot be left alone for a minute other than in her cot :)

Anique, 8 months - from Uganda

Anique
We started Anique on solids at exactly 6 months after being on breast milk only.

She at first only liked irish potatoes and nothing sweet - especially fruit which was quite frustrating. But with a little persistence she nows eats anything and everything!!

Her favourite currently is yoghurt and she likes to eat off my plate as I also eat.

She is a very active baby and a source of joy to all at home.

Thanks Baby Bites for your guidance and numerous ideas !!

Hazel

Hazel, 6 months - from Ipswich, USA

Hazel loves food!

Her favorite right now is Avocado, her first food. She has also been enjoying roasted peaches, oats, sweet potato and summer squash.

Hazel is a mellow and easy-going baby who will try anything with a smile!

Irene

Irene, 6 months - from Tel Aviv, Israel

Irene just started on her solids.

She loves fruits and anything that tastes sweet, specially pears and bananas. She also seems to have a love/hate relationship with all things sour, like passion fruit and pineapple. She can make very funny faces, but she keeps asking for more!

All in all, she's a happy adventurous eater and a lot of fun to be with!
