Congratulations to September's Baby of the Month -
this little smiler is Kaylee Jo, from Enterprise, OR, USA
Kaylee's Mum, Leslie, told us...
I have made all of her food at home from scratch. Unfortunately, I couldn't do that with her older brother because I worked full time then, so I am thrilled to get to be doing it for her now. I try to incorporate spices as much as I can - my theory is that will give her a broader palette in general. When she was about 6 mos, I started giving her pureed sweet potatoes with yellow curry and ginger and she LOVED them! At first, when she would get fussy after a meal, I thought, "Oh no! That must have been too much spice for her little tummy!" But I soon realized it just meant she wanted more!! Now, after a year old, one of her favorites is homemade whole wheat cinnamon raisin bread with a little cream cheese on top!
This photo was taken right after I took a ponytail out!
We loved this 'hair raising' photo, Leslie - thank you for sharing it. And it's great to hear
that you have such a sophisicated little foodie on your hands!
And thank you, too, to everyone else who entered last month! Here are some more of our favourite pictures sent in during August, along with a few words from Mum...
![]() Aidan, 7 months - from Newton, MA, USAAidan loves to eat! He especially enjoys avocados and greek yogurt.
He loves sitting in his red chair that attaches to the table so he can be part of the meal
with the entire family.
Anjana, 8 months - from London, United Kingdom![]() The happiest thing I like to do is to slide her bedroom curtains every morning to see her get up with a beautiful smile on her face. She has started off with her solid foods and she loves to eat. I stumbled across this site and am going to definitely try the recipes given here. Thanks for being helpful! Avveer, 7 months - from Ludhiana, India![]() Avveer (touch wood) is not a food fussy baby. I started him on solids at 6 months. I started with mashed banana and lentil soup and have now moved on to giving him baby porridge in the morning, mashed banana or stewed apple in the evening and khidchdi at night. His khidchdi is a mixture of boiled rice, lentil, carrots and bottle gourd - each ingredient added as per the 4 day trial rule. He loves all of the above and in fact I wanted to know what other vegetables are recommended for Avveer's age group and the website has been very helpful in educating me on this. I am looking forward to trying all the other recipes listed here. Jatin, 1 year - from Bangalore, India![]() He likes sipping tea, it's his favourite. He asks for it when we are sipping... he holds the cup and sips. He drinks water holding a glass. I never used a water bottle or a baby bottle continuously - he is not used to it. He also eat biscuits and home made snacks. Jayla, 6 months - from Bangkok, Thailand![]() I started giving solids after she was 4 months old and only rice cereal with milk was given in that time. After 5 months, she started having pureed fruits and vegies, chicken soup and fish soup. She loves mashed banana and pureed pumpkin the most. I've found this website now and I am going to make more home-made baby food for my baby. I am excited and have enjoyed learning from this website. Maska, 7 months - from Jakarta, Indonesia![]() Maska loves cheese so much, whatever foods he eats should be mixed with cheese. And Maska's favourite fruit is "Jeruk Medan" or Medan's Orange. For vegetables, Maska eat all the kinds we have given him, such as broccoli, zucchini, carrots etc. I think the reason Maska eats all of those vegetables is because their tastes are covered by the cheese! Niņa Cassandra, 10 months - from Manila, Philippines![]() She is extremely active and always on the lookout for something new. She also loves trying out new food items and is always more interested in what's on our plates rather than her own. Our little angel enjoys anything and everything! She is not a picky eater at all! She is enjoying solid foods a lot but still loves to eat cerelac and oatmeal. Her favorite fruit is avocado.
Sean from Wellington, OH, USA![]() We were spending a lot of money on jar foods. He cant seem to get the stage 3 foods down pat yet. Then I received my monthly packet from Similac. In the packet they gave a recipe from your site, and I decided to check it out. All in all Im so glad and thankful for finding this site. It's going to save a lot of time and money in the long run! Taylee, 6 months - from Spokane, WA, USA![]() She seems to have taken to solid foods very well and even has a few favorites. She really likes her blueberry and apple desserts, and chicken and rice. She, however, does not like turkey. She would spit and make all sorts of funny faces. We tried a second time just for good measure but she wasn't having any of it!
