This month we have not just one but TWO
Babies of the Month - and they are sweet little Sheryl and Mishal from Kuwait
Their Mum, Simi, told us...
Sheryl and Mishal are 12 months old. They were born premature, at 32 weeks. Hence we started with solid food only when they were six months old. Now at 12 months they are willing to eat anything that I feed them! Their favorites are carrots pureed, chicken and rice cooked and pureed, cerelac, biscuits and fruits pureed.
Sheryl is always busy so she doesn't finish her meals like Mishal.
Nature wise, Sheryl is a happy, hyper baby... Mishal loves to listen to music and just relax!
What a gorgeous twosome you have there, Simi - and they've obviously progressed wonderfully since
their early arrival into the world! Thank you for sharing their photograph with us.
And thank you, too, to everyone else who entered last month! Here are some more of our favourite pictures sent in during April, along with a few words from Mum...
Aiden, 7 months - from Rosenberg Texas USA![]() Aiden was born 6 weeks premature but perfectly healthy. He is a bit underweight so, the pediatrican started him on cereals at 6 months of age in addition to his regular breastfeeding sessions. He has tried a variety of fruits and veggies and will even eat spinach if combined with another "favorite" such as cinnamon carrots or apples/pears with cinnamon and vanilla bean. A favorite breakfast is his whole oats with blueberries and a bit of organic yogurt. We call him our little bird...he has taken to eating solids like a champ and opens wide when he sees the spoon coming. Recently he has wanted to grasp the spoon and "help" feed himself. This picture shows the result of Aiden "helping". Adriel, 10 months - from Iloilo City, Philippines![]() He started to eat solids at the age of 5 months old, especially cerelac mixed with mashed potatoes or squash. He goes wild and cries if you feed him slowly. His appetite changed when his teeth started to come up. But thanks to this wonderful site, with your advice and homemade recipes - you have helped me gain back his appetite... Thank you... Anthony, 7 months - from Mount Olive, NJ, USA![]() We decided to make his foods at home, so I checked out the website to get ideas. He loved the brown rice cereal (I added a little fresh vanilla bean), apple and pear sauces, and bananas. We slowly added new foods and he was quickly an old pro! He started using a spoon before 5 months and was on a sippy cup shortly after! His favorites are spaghetti sauce and chicken cooked in the apple juice from the applesauce I make. So far, the only food he doesn't like is broccoli-- typical! ![]() Camaron, 7 months - from Springfield, MA USACamaron is very fond of bananas! He gets a sour face whenever he eats his mixed vegetables, probably because of the amount of spinach. He loves applesauce, bananas, and sweet potatoes so far. He definitely has a hefty appetite! Deryn, 9 months - from Chelmsford, Essex, UK![]() She has been on solids since she was about 5-6 months old. She is almost walking now. She is very clever and very cheeky!
![]() Elika, 1 yearElika has reached the end of her first year without eating prepared food from the grocery store, because there are lots of choices and recipes on this site. It's a great great help for a first-time mom like me.The foods are so nice, you can manage your budget and most of all you can be sure of the nutritional value your baby will get. For now, she is still enjoying the finger foods!
![]() Jilia, 7 months - from Tiaong, Quezon, PhilippinesBaby Sasha began solid food at 4 months - I am very lucky that she ate everything and anything...She eats rice with vegetables very well...she loves to have orange juice! I had been very boring with my baby recipes until I found your site... I love your recipes and I find it exciting to try her with new foods...thank you very much for the information. She is a happy baby...always smile and smile to everyone! Kshitiz, 10 months - from Kolkata , West Bengal, India![]() His favourite fruits are green grapes, banana and apple. Besides those, he loves pomegranate juice. He chews and has grapes and apple raw. Cerelac is a emergency food which is only given to him when we have no option left for or we are out of our house for a tour, etc. Leila, 5 1/2 months - from Southern, NJ, U.S.![]() We haven't tried feeding any homemade foods at this point yet. I just found this site and so far I am loooovvvinngg the advice I have found on it. I was mostly interested tonight in learning about the pros and cons if any that go with feeding avocado to infants because I saw in a search on Failure to Thrive infants that it was good to feed to them. But her doctor didn't know anything of that being beneficial so I am doing my own research. And since I read on here that she can have it at 6 months we will be starting that next month!! But at this point because of her not gaining more than 4oz in the past month I have decided to give in to the docs and my fiance and feed her the solids. She is still only just under 10lbs & 22 3/4s inches at almost 6months old!! But she is very proportionate and active, happy, alert, playful- a normal infant every other way and all tests have come back NORMAL!! But anyways so far so good with the applesauce and carrots (she loves her carrots! Can't get enough!). But because she is breastfed also she does not like the cereal right now because we have been mixing it with the formula that the doc gave us to help her gain weight (Elecare), she would rather have mommy almost ALL the time. Also just last night we let her suck on my apple a little bit! She loved it! She gripped my hand soo tightly to keep the apple at her mouth I thought my circulation was going to be cut off! = ) Also we are in the process of working with her to hold a sippy cup so that she may possibly take some formula in that since she doesn't like the bottles, not sure how that will work - a nurse recommended that method so we figured why not try it, she's gonna be using a cup in the next few months anyways. = ) Best wishes to all!! Happy Spring!!
