Baby Of The Month - Previous WinnersJuly 2008
At Homemade Baby Food Recipes, we enjoy hearing about how your babies
are getting on with solid foods - and we love to receive photographs of them, too!
In our Baby of the Month Competition, we invite you to send in a special
photograph of your little one - and we publish our favourites on the site!
The current winners - and the entry form for sending in YOUR baby's
photographs - are on our Baby of the Month
page - and below you can see the winners from July's competition!
So let's meet July's beautiful "Baby Of The Month"
little Kadence, 7 months, from Winnipeg, MB, Canada - Just look at those gorgeous chubby cheeks!
Kadence's Mum, Angie, told us... Kadence is a relatively good eater, once the initial shock is gone from tasting something for the first time! When she is given something new she shudders and grimaces; needing a little convincing that what she's eating is really yummy! She's tried apricot, pear, avocado, turkey, chicken, beef, peas, carrots, chickpeas, prune, apple, beans, egg yolk, yams, and bananas!
It's very exciting watching her try something for the first time, knowing that I made her the
best food that she can eat; nothing added, just pure wholesome food.
Thanks, Angie, for sending in her photograph - Kadence has the cutest smile and is
clearly thriving on your yummy homemade baby food!
And thank you, too, to everyone else who entered last month! Here are some more of our favourite pictures sent in during June, along with a few words from Mum...
Jayden, 7 months - from Carlow, Ireland![]() I am just trying some of the new recipes I found on this site i.e. the chicken ones and its going good! Still, he prefers his sweet stuff though! He’s absolutely great to eat! He’s not so keen on juice but tries his hardest from the beaker! He stares at my plate when I eat and wants to taste everything! He has 6 teeth since he was 4 months and has had none in the last 3 months but is teething badly now again so should have some soon. He’s not sitting up properly yet or crawling but loves to lie on his belly and roll around! I had been very boring with my baby recipes until I found your site but now I am exploring all the great recipes. The frozen banana and melon cubes you suggest really keep him happy when he is in pain with his teeth. He just loves to feed himself even if it does go everywhere! This is the best website ever, my baby food bible!
Avary, 9 months - from Hamilton, Ontario, Canada![]() Once a week i make a trip to the local produce store and stock up. We steam and puree and freeze. I love it, I think I enjoy cooking for her more then my husband LOL. As soon as we seat her in her high chair, her feet start wiggling with excitement. I'm not sure why but carrots seem to give her a diaper rash???
Claire, 9 months - from Winnipeg, MB, Canada![]() She eats homemade mashed organic chicken soup, rotini pasta with tomato veggie sauce and lentil soup that we have frozen in cubes. She also loves to eat whatever we are eating - rice cakes, pad thai, pizza, naan with curry and rice, salad, pancakes with blueberries and even meatballs and potatoes from Ikea in a pinch! Her favorite so far has been a bowl of tofu and banana. She devoured it. On the rare occasion that she shows a dislike for a new food, we will spread it on organic toast, cut it in strips and she will feed it to herself. We employ a lot of positive reinforcement when she tries a new food. Cheering and clapping, she is excited to eat more. She also loves playing "one for baby, one for mommy" where she takes a bite of her food and we then take a bite of ours. This way we can all eat together at the table and she models our behavior.
Eashul, 6 months - from Karachi, Pakistan![]() I started her with homemade rice and lantin cereal (which we call khichdi in Urdu). Soon we start veggies and fruits... she loves to have orange juice! She is a happy babby, always smiles, and smiles to everyone... plays with her Daddo and likes to kiss her mummy all the time!
Nidhee, 8 months - from Mumbai, Maharashtra, India![]() I had started giving her solid from 7 months, which included a ground chapati with milk, one spoon of any seasonal fruit/ fresh vegetable juices, now with the start of 8th month I have made instant mix with one part of rice, wheat, jawar, and dal, roasted and grounded in a mixer. Whenever she needs I boil this in water adding some sugar and milk later on for taste. She enjoys this like anything. She eats everything given in small proportion after some intervals.
Riya, 7 months - from Banagalore India![]() She started very well by eating everything I cooked for her, but soon she developed her taste. Now she has her preferences! She eats rice with vegetables very well, whereas she is not so fond of fruits. The smile on her face after a favorite meal is adorable, but if I feed her something she dislikes she make a cute sad face! So I am still trying to introduce fruits in her meal.
