Baby Of The Month - Previous Winners

August 2008

At Homemade Baby Food Recipes, we enjoy hearing about how your babies are getting on with solid foods - and we love to receive photographs of them, too!

In our Baby of the Month Competition, we invite you to send in a special photograph of your little one - and we publish our favourites on the site!

The current winners - and the entry form for sending in YOUR baby's photographs - are on our Baby of the Month page - and below you can see the winners from August's competition!

Meet August's brand new "Baby Of The Month"!
This little cutie is Sulaiman, 8 months, from the Maldives -
And this adorable photograph was sent in by Mum, Fathimath!

Sulaiman

She told us...

We started giving Sulaiman solids when he turned 6 months.

He started by eating Promina cereal packets. Now he eats rice with vegetables - and a meat with it - very well, whereas he dosen't like fresh fruit juices at all. But he loves to eat fruits!

He love to eat new foods and I love feeding him!

I am still trying to introduce new foods to him.

Thanks, Fathimath, for sending in this photograph - it brought a big smile to our faces and we're sure our visitors will love it, too!

And thank you, too, to everyone else who entered last month!

Here are some more of our favourite pictures sent in during July, along with a few words from Mum...

Becker, 10 months - from Ontario, Canada

Becker
Becker is a fabulous eater!

My husband and I decided at 5 months that we would be making his baby food to start.

He loves sweet potato, squash, asparagus and everything else that he has tried.

He's starting to handle finger foods and more textured foods and loves to feed himself. He's getting better with his feedings each and every day.

Alyan, 4 months - from Addu, Maldives

Alyan
My baby is a food lover and I'm somehow worried about it...

He started on solid foods 2 weeks back and I started him with home made steamed and pureed fruits mixed with breast milk. I used to feed him 3 times (morning, afternoon and evening) daily for the first 3 days as he does not take formula. But I have reduced it to 2 times (morning and evening) daily now as my doctor advised me that it is not good to feed a 4 month old that much.

As my son could not resist the afternoon meal, I have increased the portion of his morning and evening meal. Now I give him an apple steamed and pureed with breast milk in the morning and a peach steamed and pureed with breast milk in the evening. This doesn't seem enough for him.

But I have limited it to this much until he reaches five months old.

I give him diluted apple juice at lunch and when I'm at work, otherwise I breast feed him.

I am planing to introduce him to different fruits each week before I go to vegetables and others.

Grant, 9 months - from Worthington, Ohio, United States

Grant
Oh my goodness, Grant LOVES to eat.

He will eat anything I give him, which is great - he seems very willing to eat healthy meals. He loves food so much that he eats so fast, he gets upset when it is gone. I have found it really helpful to feed him chunks he can pick up himself and it "slows him down" and he has time to realize he is full.

He likes all the fruits and veggies I have prepared for him and I found your website very helpful for new ideas. His favorite meal is plain organic yogurt mixed with any fruit puree.

He loves to smile and explore everywhere and everything!

Mahi, 8 months

Mahi
I have introduced solid food since the age of 6 months. She loves almost everything, but not fruit juices.

She has a mind blowing smile.!

She just loves to play with her toys and see the cars and vehicles moving around. She loves to sit near the window and watch the birds flying!

She is a very active baby.

Shray, 6 months - from Irving, Texas, USA

Shray
Shray has started mashed bananas, apple sauce, prunes, pears, peaches, avocado, carrot, peas, rice porridge and oatmeal. He wants to eat everything that I eat. In fact, I figured that the best way to introduce anything new to him is by eating it in front of him!

I am a vegetarian and thrive on lentils. Last week I was enjoying lentil soup while Shray was sitting on my lap. He wanted to eat it !! I gave him a spoon and then another. Within minutes the bowl was empty.

He loves cold water .... fills up his mouth and then spits it out. Best way to deal with Texas heat without filling up on water!

Daniel

Daniel, 8 months - from Leeds, England

Daniel loves his meals, and eats almost anything.

Real favourites are bolognese, shepherd's pie, fruit - especially apples and blueberries, and custard!

The only thing he's taken a firm dislike to is pineapple, but then I'm not that keen on that either!!!

He's a happy little darling, as you can see!
