So meet August's Baby of the Month - lovely little Ramneek, 7 months old from Delhi, India.
Mum Amandeep told us...
Ramneek is quite an active baby!
We started her on solid food at 6 months. She is quite fond of putting things in her mouth! Whenever I'm cutting veggies or salad, she wants to grab them. So I just cut a long piece and give it to her... and then she is all happy and gets busy tasting the vegetable, plus it gets easier for me to do the work lol!
Thanks, Amandeep, for sharing Ramneek's photograph with us :)
And thank you, too, to everyone else who entered last month! Here are some more of our favourite pictures sent in during July...
Damien, 9 months - from Columbia, MO, USA![]() He took to the spoon like a champ! We worked through the variety of cereals, and started fruits and vegetables at 6 months of age. I was at a loss as to what foods would be okay and when. This site is a fantastic resource, thank you! Damien likes just about anything we feed him. Textures were an issue at first, but now he handles lumpy textures really well. He always takes his first bite cautiously, just to see what he is being offered and what it feels like in his mouth, but then he will just open up wide for the rest. If it is something he really loves (like applesauce, sweet potatoes, or sweet peas) he will smile real big and open wide.
![]() Mischa, 9 months - from Melbourne, AustraliaMischa is a very happy eater, everything goes, and in endless quantities. She loves her yogurt and cheese especially but is not much of a fan when it comes to broccoli and tuna, which can sometimes be a challenge, frequently ending up with more food on her face then in her mouth.
Sai, 12 months - from Chandrapur, Maharashtra, India![]() Her favorite food seems to switch every day! She loves bananas ,chiku and mango... banana was her all time favourite. She wouldn't let anyone eat them... she always did the 'uuu...' hummming if it wasnt offered to her! We offered her orange juice and she gulped it down quickly:-) Sai loves grapes! I know, she's a little young for whole grapes.
Joshua, 8 months - from Glasgow, Scotland![]() They range from different kinds of fruits, veg, beef, chicken, pasta, cous cous, lentils. He loves sharing plums and bananas with his dad which is great bonding for them. I make all my own stuff for him and so far no complaints!! ![]() Isaac, 12 months - from Southern Indiana, USIsaac is down to three meals a day. He loves broccoli and cheese. He's also a fan of fruit in yogurt. Mommy likes to puree the fruit and put it in vanilla yogurt. Taste great! He doesn't like peas. Yuck! He does like to flick them everywhere. For his first birthday he had his own birthday cake! However, not even a minute after eating it he got sick and had a terrible rash all over his body. It turns out that the little guy is allergic to eggs. Poor boy!
Anika, 13 months - from Cochin, Kerala, India![]() Ammu ( as we call her ) eats everything that we have, but she will never eat the porridges that I make for her! She enjoys all the spicy food and its a pleasure to see her nibble on her biscuits in the mornings. Like her dad , she likes to be in the kitchen for most of the time, she has half glass of black currant juice and also likes to have Junior Horlicks... it's a pleasure to see her feed herself !!
![]() Arjun, 9 months - from Melbourne, Victoria, AustraliaArjun has always been an easy baby. He started solids when he was six months old and loves his sweet potato. Its always lovely to read your website with all the different recipies and he loves home made recipes. Thanks, you guys are doing a great job!
![]() Darsh, 7 months - from Mumbai, IndiaDarsh started solids 2 weeks ago.He started with rice - nah!! didnt like it at all. He really enjoys boiled apple and rice cereal. Tried Moong dal water - but not a hot favourite yet. Am going to try out chickoo and banana puree next!! Let's see :)
![]() Erik, 7 months - from Orlando, FL, USAErik is one of the happiest babies that I have ever seen! He is such an easy going, go with the flow kind of child! He loves to laugh, roll around on the floor, and be snuggled with!Erik has been eating solid food since he was 5 months old! He has tried and enjoys avacado, butternut squash, green beans and peas. He didn't like the avocado the 1st time, but a week later he loved it, just like his mommy! He also loves his cereal, apple sauce, prunes, bananas and kiwi! I am going to try introducing meats soon! Thanks for the ideas for cooking meats on this website! I can't wait to try them out!
![]() Fionna, 8 months - from Digos City, Davao del Sur, PhilippinesSophie enjoys mashed foods especially her favorite squash... she always wants her mouth to be full and when it's empty her protests come!Hoping to cook for her more recipes from your site.
![]() Gabriel, 11 months - from Calgary, Alberta, CanadaGabriel started eating solids at about 5 months old. He once loved peas and squash but now devours blueberries, watermelon and blackberries. Another huge hit is scrambled eggs with some cheddar cheese and everyone's favorite - spaghetti. Our biggest success with feeding solids came with letting Gabriel feed himself. He wants to hold the spoon or it has to be finger foods. Always on the go it's hard to pin him down for meals, but when he does, he eats just about everything you can give him.
Guruom, 10 months from London, UK![]() He is enjoying his first summer in London and is making the most of it as in the picture. He is on mother's milk and is hardly having formula milk. I give him homemade food at least once in his daily meals. He does not seem to like it the most but I keep giving him as at some point, he has to start eating homemade food. All babies pictured on this page are so cute!!
Kiara, 7 months - from Australia![]() She loves pureed apples and pears, and has recently started eating oats and ragi which she seems to like as well. We had started her off on avocado, but she can't seem to stand it anymore... talk about changing tastes!! She's still mainly on breastmilk and formula, with solids twice a day. This website is really good and has helped us get an understanding of what homemade baby food options are available and that they don't have to be store bought.
![]() Ong Huey Huey, 10 months - from MalaysiaMy Little Huey Huey just enjoys eating my homecooked food. This made me become a proud Mama, by experimenting with different types of recipes provided by this site. She just loves pumpkin, sweet potatoes, bananas and of course golden kiwi, and always asked for more. This site has provided me a great source of information on preparing, storing and choosing the healthy and delicious baby food. Despite I have to leave home early and back home late, I am proud that I prepared and cooked every meal for my Huey Huey without any canned baby food. From having the hobby of cooking for my lovely hubby, now I have experimented and researched on various types of veggies and fruits for my baby. I'm definitely looking forward to cooking baby food as my profession in the future.
Paige, 11 months - from Barrigada, GU![]() She's finding that our table food tastes better than her baby food in the jar. I make small batches of veggies and chicken breasts for her to eat through the week. She still likes baby cereal mixed with baby fruit jars. I keep her away from processed meats and fatty foods. She only tried her first french fry last week but that may be her last for a while, at least til she a bit older. I will continue to try and keep her eating healthy so she can grow up to be strong and healthy. Not so easy all the time though, especially with the ease of fast foods! I'll do my best! Rivers, 8 1/2 months - from Pearland, TX USA![]() I was nervous about making my own baby food but after visiting this site it has been a breeze and not that much more work. He is a very active little boy crawling at 5 months, pulling to stand at 6 and is really keeping us busy crawling all over the place. He loves to feed himself and has no problem eating finger food, even though he still has no teeth. He is the biggest joy and most wonderful thing I have ever made!! I love this website and all the information it has and will keep providing us as Rivers gets older.
Shriya, 5 months - from Toronto, Ontario![]() She is a real drama queen for so many things she does... she wants people around her to pay attention when she does something new like playing with her musical piano or rolling over to hold her favourite toy. She loves taking photographs... we always wonder who taught her how to pose. She just started solids and fairly enjoys them. Most of them they are fruits and vegetables based. She makes sounds while eating as if she is relishing the food. We plan to start rice and dal (pulses) mix which more like the traditional cereal from our ethnicity. She is a very active baby and loves to socialize when in a mall or any gatherings... loves her gym. With this wonderful bundle of joy around we thank god for blessing us with the baby. May god give her good health and great life. I am thouroughly enjoying motherhood and wish I didn't have to go to work, so that I can spend more time with my baby. Maybe I will win a lottery soon!
