So meet August's Baby of the Month -
this happy little chappy is Maverick, 6 months, from Illinois, USA
Texas fan for now... but Cubbies fan forever!

Maverick

Maverick's Mum, Brandi, told us...

Maverick has been eating rice cereal with carrots. He loves it... he loves food! He is 20lbs and a big ball of chubbers!

If I let him have finger foods, he might just try them!

I stumbled across this site and have read some great recipes. I am excited to try the homemade route.

Starting Saturday, he will be having his first homemade oatmeal cereal with his veggies. After three girls and tons of commerical baby food I am happy about my son trying out homemade foods... and his older sisters can't wait to help make them!

Happy eating!

Thanks for sharing this photo, Brandi - and we think it's great that Maverick's sisters will be helping make his food. What a fantastic lesson you're giving them in healthy eating!

And thank you, too, to everyone else who entered last month!

Here are some more of our favourite pictures sent in during July, along with a few words from Mum...

Daisuke, 7 months - from Chiba, Japan

Daisuke
Daisuke is a very active and alert baby boy. He smiles cheerfully, that why he can easily catch the attention of other people... even if they do nothing to him, just look at him! He`ll give the best smile he can...so funny!

When he sees what we`re eating, he wants to eat it too, but I just give him a little to taste. I dont have a hard time feeding him. Daisuke likes to eat anything....especially sweets, maybe its because when he was still in my tummy, I loved to eat desserts.

Im looking for different menu ideas for him, to give him new tastes .Luckily, Ive found your site - thank you!

Brody, 10 months - from Spring Hill, Florida, US

Brody
Brody loves to eat!

He started on solids around 4 months and he now loves the recipes mommy gets for him off this website! He loves cinnamon with his morning oatmeal and he eats every single vegetable and fruit out there.

Now we are just trying to get him to eat more textured foods. And that's where homemade baby food fits in! Thank you very much for expanding my son's palette!

Hamdan, 8 months - from from Dubai, UAE

Hamdan
Hamdan is my world for me and a precious gift given to me from God.

I started solids for Hamdan just when he turned 6 months. Initially he didn't like the food but then he started liking mashed potatoes, and now there are few of his favourite meals like mashed banana, mangoes and Chicken.

He also likes the combination of rice and pulses, he loves cheese and bread dipped in milk for his breakfast.

I was thinking of introducing oats as a new dish for his breakfast and so was searching for some receipes on your website. I found many receipes for oats and will try these receipes. I hope that Hamdan will love all of these and will enjoy eating oats:-)

Now am a frequent user of your website. Its a wonderful website for all Mommy's!

Kwame, 11 months - from Manchester, UK

Kwame
Kwame is my gorgeous little boy and just like his Daddy, he loves to eat!! I started him on solid just after four months old which is the same age that I gave his big sister her first tastes. His first taste was mashed potato which he loved. Kwame is still breastfed three to four times a day.

I haven't given Kwame any meat or chicken as yet, he loves his vegetable dinners and Salmon is his favourite fish!! He isn't too keen on rice or pasta but loves mashed white and sweet potato. His favourite dessert I have to say is yoghurt, he could eat two pots one after the other!!!

He doesn't seem to like the feel of finger foods such as banana, so I have to feed him. He will gladly munch on a piece of toast or a rice cake, I guess he just has to get used to the feel and texture. I'm going to try him with the recipe I found on your website for Brocolli Nuggets this week.

I am so blessed to have two children that are not fussy eaters and enjoy their home cooked foods.

Dalton, 1 year - from Huntsville, AL, USA

Dalton
Dalton was born a whopping 9lbs 1oz, so he has never really had a problem eating! Now...he's just really tall! He has been off the bottle and drinking from a sippy cup for over a month now - that's a relief!

I say his favorite food is Plain Natural Yogurt mixed with fruit. Second would be the Gerber Puffs (loves those things)! He eats his three meals a day, plus a couple of snacks in between. The girls at the church daycare love feeding him because they say, "He just opens up his mouth and eats every last bite of food!"

Dalton is such a happy little boy - always laughing and playing. Rarely does he cry, unless he is exceptionally tired. I have, indeed, been blessed!

Shruthi

Shruthi, 10 months - from Hyderabad, India

I have started off with solids from the past 4 months for my sweet Shruthi. Though she is fond of playing, she still enjoys eating raw bitter gourd, bananas, yogurt, apples - but she just hates drink orange juice or milk. I need to keep catching her and run behind for almost 2 hours to feed her 60 ml of orange juice. Yet water is her favourite.

She always keeps smiling and only smiling. Her smile attracts almost all the passers-by. Her dad is her world and she just loves playing with him. I am lucky to say that we hardly see her crying for anything when we are around her. She recognizes a lot of things in her daily world including different types of colors and animals.

Thahnoon

Thahnoon, 9 months - from Dubai,UAE

My baby like solid foods. He prefers salt to sugar, he likes potato a lot... and he doesn't want to taste banana!

Now he can stand erect without holding to any object. He can say mamma and pappa and also baby. He likes to play with balls and kitchen items like bowls, spoons etc!

Theodore

Theodore, 8 months - Eilat, Israel

"Theodore loves swim lessons"

Swim lessons twice a week make Theodore a hungry baby!

He is a melon man--he likes watermelon and cantaloupe. He will also eat apricots, bananas, and apples. He is not terribly fond of veggies, but will eat them if they are mashed with banana.

Yuvraj

Yuvraj, 7 months - from India

Yuvraj is a very active baby!

He loves to eat banana and apple juice. He is crazy for butter. I used to feed him dal daily, in the evenings, and he loves it.

Now I will try the recipes given on your website!
