Baby Of The Month - Previous Winners

April 2008

At Homemade Baby Food Recipes, we enjoy hearing about how your babies are getting on with solid foods - and we love to receive photographs of them, too!

In our Baby of the Month Competition, we invite you to send in a special photograph of your little one - and we publish our favourites on the site!

The current winners - and the entry form for sending in YOUR baby's photographs - are on our Baby of the Month page - and below you can see the winners from April's competition!

How could we resist this smile? We just couldn't help smiling back when we received this photograph!
So congratulations to our "Baby Of The Month"
Kaja, 9 months, from Prilep, Macedonia

Kaja Kaja's Mum, Dragica, told us...

I started giving my baby solids when she was 4 months old.

I gave her apple puree first, but she didn't seem interested in its taste and also seemed a bit confused when I tried to feed her with a spoon. However, I tried it the next day, and the next - so we started to get the hang of it.

I gave her pear next, then banana which she seemed to like (and still does).

I have given her rice, then potatoes, carrots, spinach, peas... I experimented a lot and still followed (even though not too closely) the doctor's advice, in that I gradually increased the amount and variety of foods.

Nowadays, Kaja is nine months old (she was born on 26 June) and her favourite dish is a puree made of beef, carrots, potatoes, parsley and a bit of butter.

Her absolute favourite is still banana frapee and what she now enjoys is eating little bread slices - because she plays with them and eats them at the same time!

Thank you, Dragica, for sending in this magical photograph of Kaja - it's great to hear what a wonderful variety of healthy foods she is enjoying!

Thank you, everyone, for all the other fantastic entries we received this month!

Here are some more of our favourite pictures, along with a few words from Mum...

George, 9 months - from Sleaford, Lincs, UK

George
George loves meal time! Especially if he has finger food. He loves throwing it everywhere!

George loves fruit - he would eat it at every meal given half the chance. He loves toast. If I eat toast for breakfast, he comes over to me and climbs up holding on to my leg. Then he opens his mouth like a baby bird. He doesn't like pasta very much, but I think its more the texture he dislikes.

George is one of the happiest babies I have ever known. He is a real treasure!

Alex, 7 months - from Bucharest, Romania

Alex
Alex enjoys everything... if Mommy could puree some hard rocks, it would be great for him to eat them!

He dislikes only barley, and he is not a big fan of carrot puree if it is not mixed with something else. He presently eats cereals, all kinds of mashed or pureed fruits (apples, pears, apricots, bananas, kiwi, orange), almost all vegetables boiled, pureed or mashed (sweet potatoes, potatoes, squash, carrots, parsley, onion, green beans, cauliflower, broccoli).

Recently we added some meats (chicken and turkey, white fish), egg yolks and yogurt. And as little snacks we love to chew on baby biscuits.

Logan - from London, Ontario, Canada

Logan
Logan is our miracle and he lovvvvvvvvvves his meal times!

His favourite food is 'applenana oatmeal' (fresh apples and banana with breast milk and oatmeal). He is a breastfed boy and is always eager to try new food.

I was unsure of how to go about finger foods and when and what to introduce for solids. Your site is amazing and gave me help and advice that I really needed.

Logan is a dream to raise and we know how lucky we are to have such a happy healthy little man! Our road to parenthood was a long and bumpy one, and we are truly blessed.

The chewing faces he makes just crack me up everytime!!

Rayan, 7 months - from Barcelona, Spain

Rayan
Rayan is our first Baby, he is 7 months old. He had no problems trying solid food for the first time when he was 4 months old, as he always used to be furious when he saw us eating and always wanted to have a look at our food!

He likes to eat everything and anything, he's always so curious to try new food and different textures. He loves chicken and soups, and fruit-wise he likes banana.

He likes to go out for a walk every day. He really knows what he wants and he will let you know it as well :) ,

He smiles and laughs with all people that he meets, he is so cute and adorable and people love to stop us in the supermarket or elsewhere to play with him!
