• For babies less than 6 months of age, keep sun exposure to a minimum (see our vitamin D page for more information about sunlight and its contribution to vitamin D production).
  
  
• After 6 months, brief periods of exposure are safe, provided that a good sunscreen is used. Make sure baby is also wearing a good sun hat that protects the back of his neck.
  
  
• Avoid exposure between 11am and 3pm - when the sun is at its hottest.
