Arms Reach Co-Sleeper Mini Bassinet

by Shawna Chapman
(Lawrence, Kansas)

My husband and I adored this item. We only used it until our little Lucy was six months old (she will be a year next month), but found it invaluable.

The Arms Reach co-sleeper bassinet attaches to the bed, so that the baby is right next to her parents while she sleeps. It simultaneously gives the baby her own space protected from blankets, pillows, and other bedding hazards. In addition, the baby cannot accidently slip out or roll between the bed and the wall, a big danger for co-sleeping families.

The Arms Reach Co-Sleeper is the best of both worlds. It provides a way for a baby to co-sleep with its parents (recommended by many sleep experts such as Dr. McKenna of the Mother Baby Sleep Institute), but gives the baby safe space where it cannot be accidently hurt (recommended by the American Academy of Pediatrics). Having Lucy right next to me those first six months was amazing. It really helped us bond. It also helped me sleep easier because I could hear her breathing and could roll over and touch her at any time during the night. If she needed something or was in distress, I knew immediately. This was especially important when she had her first cold.

I recently passed my co-sleeper on to a friend who is expecting, but plan to purchase another one when my husband and I have our second. I can’t imagine the first six months without it. There is nothing as amazing as waking up in the morning as your little one wakes up, you make eye contact, and exchange one of her very first smiles. This item is priceless.
