Last Chance to Win A Beautiful Baby Blanket

Enter this month's Baby Food Photographs Contest and you could be the winner of this beautiful baby blanket, courtesy of Proudtots.com!

Amy Pollesch from Mayville, Wisconsin, was last month's winner of one of these gorgeous and snuggly blankets (congratulations, Amy!) - and Proudtots.com has kindly offered one more, especially for the winner of THIS month's contest!

The plush blanket, made of finest minkee swirl and is trimmed with a classic lace, measures a generous 36*38 and ideal for boys and girls alike.

And that's not all!

Everyone who enters our contest will receive a copy of our e-book - The Homemade baby Food Recipes Collection - absolutely FREE!

The three easy steps to enter

  1. Just prepare a meal or treat for your baby using ANY recipe on our site.

  2. Take a photograph of your creation - try to make your photograph as clear and well-lit as possible.

  3. Visit our Baby Food Photographs contest page, complete the simple form and upload your photograph!

It's as easy as that - but if you'd like to see an example of the kind of photograph we are looking for, here's Amy's winning photograph of the Vegetarian Pumpkin and Apple Soup recipe on our blog!

Please note that this month's contest closes on November 30th, so please be sure to have your entry in before then!

Is Baby Rice the Best First Food For Baby?

For many years, baby rice (or infant rice cereal) has been the automatic choice for baby's first food and is widely recommended by pediatricians.

But is giving your little one baby rice really the best way to introduce him to solid foods? Are there other - better - alternatives?

We've written an extensive article this month about the pros and cons of baby rice, including interviews with parents who shared their experiences with us to help YOU make the most appropriate choice for YOUR baby.

There are lots of interesting comments about the nutritional value of rice, its effects on the digestive systems of babies... and whether or not it really DOES help babies sleep through the night!

Come and take a look here...

The Best First Food for Baby

... and if you've already introduced rice cereal to your little one, then you'll find a form at the bottom of the page to share YOUR experiences, too!

Not all cheeses are suitable for baby, though - so we've compiled a list of the safest cheeses for baby - plus those you should avoid... and we give you some tips for incorporating cheese into baby's menu...

Featured Product - Stack n Smile Photo Blocks

The simplest ideas are always the best... and these new Stack n Smile Photo Blocks prove that point perfectly!

The blocks, from One Step Ahead, are made of foam and come in a set of four. Suitable from birth onwards, the cubes can be easily customized by inserting up to six 4" x 4" photos into the sides of each one.

A set of simple foam cubes suddenly becomes a whole lot more interesting, when decorated with pictures of your little one's family members, pets and other favourite things!

This toy was actually recommended to us by a friend of the family whose baby is so captivated by his personalized cubes that she insisted we tell our readers all about them! We're happy to oblige - it's always good to come across a toy that really captures baby's imagination!

One Step Ahead's Stack n Smile Photo Blocks are currently available for $14.95 per set.

    Featured Website - freepeats.org

Another cool site this month to help you save your pennies OR get rid of your unwanted baby gear - and that's freepeats.org.

Join Freepeats for a one time membership fee of just $4.95 and you will have access to offers of free, gently used baby care items from other parents. If the Freepeats forum for your area was only established within the last 2 weeks, then you can join for free... for life!

You may also post details of your own, unwanted items that you wish to donate - but Freepeats does ask that these items be safe, not too worn, with no missing parts and in good working order. Please note that car seats and crib mattresses may not be donated for safety reasons.

Unlike last month's Site of the Month, which was created for selling baby care items, everything on Freepeats is free for the taking. The one-off joining fee of $4.95 goes towards maintaining the message boards where the offers are posted.

Unfortunately, not every US city has a forum yet - but more are being added all the time and you can ask to be notified when one is established in your area.

And - as an incentive to donate your items - Freepeats is entering the first 100 offers listings in a draw to win a $25 Amazon gift certificate.

Read more - and find out how to join Freepeats - here!.
